Edition

The edition of an artwork is always stated in the product description in our webshop.
Artworks can be in a limited edition or open edition. Limited editions are limited to a fixed number of prints. Each print is numbered with its unique number and signed by the photographer. After an edition is sold, no more can be created in that edition. The same artwork can however be made in other sizes/mediums, making them new editions. For qualifying to be made as a new edition, the size must be doubled or halved or made on a totally different medium like aluminium or canvas instead of paper.

Open editions is not limited to any fixed number of prints and can be made in as many copies, versions or sizes as the artist wish to. They can be signed or unsigned, this is always clearly stated in the product description.

AP

Abbrevation for Artist’s proof. Outside the numbered limited editon, artists proof can be made. These are the artist’s personal copies. They are usually made on the same time as the rest of the edition, and the same high quality and standard as the edition. Typical 10% of the limited edition print run will be released as Artist’s Proof. Some of them might find it’s way to the open marked, some of them not. For limited edition runs in 20 or fewer copies, usually 2 Artist’s Proof are made.

Signature

All our limited edition artworks are signed. Where the signature is placed depends on the apperance of the artwork. It can be on the print area, right below the print area, on the backside of the print etc.

Paper and Print sizes

Print size

The print size of the artwork is the size of the image area. Around the artwork might be for example a white border, making the total size of the artwork bigger than the print size.

Paper size

The paper size of the artwork is the outer dimensions of the paper the image is made on. If the artwork is made with borders, the paper size will be bigger than the print size.
